Rodaro

T he Rodaro family, now in its sixth generation of winemakers, has been cultivating the land in Friuli Venezia Giulia since 1846, when it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Today, the winery is one of the most dynamic historical realities for research in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The Rodaro estate is located in Spessa di Cividale, on the Eastern Hills of Friuli Venezia Giulia, fifty kilometres from the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, near the border with Slovenia. The property's vines grow on "ponca" (flysch), a marine-origin marl that is common to the two excellent wine-growing areas in the hilly region, Collio and Colli Orientali, giving the wines their characteristic flavour.

The love for native grapes and cultivation of international ones has led to reproduction of ancient vine clones. Quality is ensured through selective harvesting, green pruning, low grape production, and a balance between ancient and modern winemaking techniques. The vineyard's ideal location, exposure, and microclimate between the Bora wind and warm sea air are unmatched, enhancing the wine's minerality, acidity, and aromatic components.

The winery has obtained the European SQNPI label, certifying its low environmental impact and sustainable pest management. It is a technologically advanced winery that produces, bottles, and stores wine while being self-sufficient. It only uses clean energy from solar panels, reflecting its commitment to sustainability.

The winery offers exclusive and unforgettable The Romain red wines, aged in French oak barrels, and carefully selected hand-picked grapes used to produce exclusive editions. Their Millesimato Pas Dosé (Zero Dosage) and Blanc de Blancs are also remarkable, with surprising longevity and tantalizing balance between elegance and freshness.
